00:01:31:17 – 00:01:33:22
3
Thank you so much for having me. I’m excited to be here.
00:01:34:07 – 00:01:38:13
1
Awesome. Can you tell us a little bit about the history and background of your agency?
00:01:38:26 – 00:02:08:16
3
Yeah, definitely. So the social savvy is a full service one stop shop for all social media marketing and public relation needs. We handle everything from unique branding strategies to logo design strategies, anything from branding to physical PR strategies as well. Everything that we do is creative, but we also focus on the traditional side in terms of press releases, getting new features and digital features as well.
00:02:08:17 – 00:02:13:06
3
So we’re a one stop shop for all creative needs for any business or influencer.
00:02:13:27 – 00:02:25:09
1
Awesome. And did it always start off as the one stop shop? If you can think back to maybe when you were thinking, All right, I’m going to start an agency. Talk a little bit about your early background.
00:02:25:20 – 00:02:47:22
3
Yeah. So the whole reason that I actually started my agency was because I felt that there was a need for change within the industry. I felt that when I was working as a social media manager or a marketer in the industry, there wasn’t a lot of opportunity for different ideas and a wide range of ideas and uniqueness within the industry.
00:02:48:07 – 00:03:16:10
3
I felt like a lot of the time I was kind of just accomplishing a task that that had to do with marketing. So I really wanted the opportunity to be able to be creative, not only with the type of content that I created for clients, but the strategies and how we get that content out. So in our agency, we focus on all different creative strategies, but we really focus on where our clients target audience is and take advantage of all creative platforms and digital platforms around that.
00:03:16:19 – 00:03:33:29
3
Around that target audience. So that’s kind of what I felt was missing from the industry when I was in. It was the opportunity to be unique and different and really explore different opportune ideas, especially since it’s an industry that’s always changing. I really felt the need that we had to change strategies and approaches with that as well.
00:03:34:14 – 00:03:50:11
1
Mm hmm. Awesome. So you’re working with in a company as a social media manager, and then you saw the need and you made a switch. Did you? Did you start off kind of like freelancing or did you have a team right from the get go or talk a lot about them?
00:03:50:19 – 00:04:08:22
3
So so I started off doing everything on my own. For a while I always kind of knew this was the direction that I wanted to go in. Ever since my my very first job, there was a job in retail, but my manager had said that we had underwent a rebrand and no one knew about it, and Instagram had just came out at that time.
00:04:08:22 – 00:04:30:08
3
So I proposed starting an account for the store and that’s when I realized it was it was a job and I could get paid for it. So I really kind of knew from a young age that’s what I wanted to do. So I ended up going to Moloi University, a great school that had a focus in new media where I was able to learn and get educated with some of the best professors that, you know, I’m still in contact with today.
00:04:30:08 – 00:04:57:02
3
That really helped me grow. But while I was in school, I took on different jobs where I was, you know, working for a creative agency, you know, part time, working from home, handling 7 to 8 accounts, managing marketing strategies, Instagram and Facebook accounts, blog, writing stuff like that. And even when I did get my first full time job out of college, I was still working part time handling clients on the side.
00:04:57:02 – 00:05:22:11
3
So I always had that entrepreneurial spirit, I guess you could say, inside of me. So finally, I was I was working full time and the COVID pandemic hit. And when everyone went digital, my clients from previous jobs came to me and said, you know, we have to go digital quick. And they really trusted me. So that’s when I finally had enough work where I was able to quit my full time job and really just focus on growing my business.
00:05:22:11 – 00:05:23:20
3
And that’s exactly what I did.
00:05:24:08 – 00:05:33:01
1
MM Congratulations, first off, on finding not only the need within the agency space, but also finding the gift in the COVID.
00:05:33:16 – 00:05:37:06
3
Yeah. Yeah. Being the bright and at the positive in it, Right? Yeah.
00:05:38:05 – 00:05:56:09
1
So over the last few years, I mean, obviously we’ve grown the agency of a number of employees and you got to where you are right now. What’s kind of been like some of the lessons learned, kind of diving straight in, leaving the job, going all in with the agency. What are some of those lessons that you’ve learned?
00:05:56:29 – 00:06:27:05
3
Yeah, So I think some of the biggest things that I’ve taken away with just really take every opportunity that comes your way, even if it’s not something that you’re expecting to be doing within the industry. I really feel like you have to learn every aspect of digital marketing in order to be successful. So if you get put in a situation where maybe you’re taking on a task that you didn’t expect or it’s not really in your realm of your job title, I would say just be happy to take every opportunity because the more you learn in this industry, the better off and the more successful you’ll be.
00:06:27:29 – 00:06:45:11
3
That’s kind of my number one. And my other big one is to really just not let anyone tell you that your ideas are too big. I feel like I’ve been at so many jobs where, you know, my idea never got selected within a group because it had never been done before. But I know that now at my agency.
00:06:45:11 – 00:07:09:03
3
That’s why we’re the number one agency, because it’s never been done before. We’re doing things that have never been done before, and it’s working. You know, that’s kind of what the industry is about, is being creative. Obviously also focusing on analytics and proven data on on why you should be, you know, carrying out certain campaigns, but all about pitching new ideas and not letting anyone tell you that your ideas not, you know, not good enough or it’s too big.
00:07:09:03 – 00:07:15:13
3
I really feel like with the right agency or the right client, your ideas are never too big.
00:07:15:27 – 00:07:24:11
1
Mm hmm. I love the idea of continual learning. What are some of the things that you’re you’re focused on learning right now, if you don’t mind me asking?
00:07:24:26 – 00:07:52:10
3
Yeah, definitely. So a lot of things, I’m sure, as we all know with artificial intelligence, you know, super popular. We’ve been integrating that a lot into our day to day for our clients, really taking advantage of all the capabilities, not just for writing, but also for implementing unique like video editing strategies, for scheduling, for organizing, being able to take advantage of AI as it comes out and really using it for our advantage so it doesn’t take over.
00:07:52:10 – 00:08:12:20
3
Our job, you know, is number one and kind of always just staying up to date with how the platforms are changing, you know, like just day to day things like Instagram changing the number of hashtags that are now that’s now successful, you know, being on top of little tiny tweaks that help our clients strategies in day to day posts.
00:08:12:24 – 00:08:23:13
1
Mm hmm. Oh, I love it. Yeah. So what is what’s kind of either a success for you in the next 1 to 3 years? What are you working on? What You know, what are you excited about?
00:08:23:26 – 00:08:52:01
3
Yeah, so I’m super excited about building our team. We have a really solid foundation of really hard working marketers, content creators, video assistants, video production. You know, we have a really cool team around us that’s able to tackle all different aspects of marketing. So what I’m really looking forward to is bringing a different approach to social media. All of our equipment and all of our professional all of our equipment is super professional.
00:08:52:18 – 00:09:14:20
3
So we’re really bringing that to the social media platforms, which has been helping us because now the algorithm also favors quality. So being able to really change the game with bringing that, if you will, that TV set studio quality to social media and really expanding and changing the way that our clients output content is really what I’m looking forward to.
00:09:14:20 – 00:09:27:09
3
And right now we basically cater more of the Long Island area, but really, you know, expanding out to the city, Manhattan and hopefully into other states moving forward is really what I’m looking forward to in the next upcoming years.
00:09:27:22 – 00:09:30:14
1
Oh, yeah. You do have a big vision. That’s awesome.
00:09:31:07 – 00:09:32:29
3
Yeah. Dream big, right? Yeah.
00:09:33:04 – 00:09:39:00
1
Yeah. So what is the best way for people to get in touch with you or do you have any offers for them that they could take advantage of?
