Leverage for Growth Podcast

Episode 22: Doing vs. Becoming

Episode Date:Feb 24, 2023

Undoubtedly, there is a time to delegate and automate processes out. But there is also a time to take a process in and have it transform you and your business. One of the most valuable aspects of having a coach or mentor is so they can show you when it is the time to find the most efficient way of doing things and when it is the time to fully take in a process. Some processes are meant to be completed by the business owner themselves, as the process transforms the business owner into a more competent leader.

You are now listening to Leverage for Growth. Hey everybody this is Jesse P. Gilmore founder of Niche in Control and creator of the Leverage for Growth, welcome to the daily leverage edition.

Today’s topic is this “Doing vs. Becoming”. Sit back, relax and welcome to today’s daily leverage.

So this morning, I was doing my morning routine of stacking and reflecting on a conversation that we had during our Alliance mastermind call yesterday with our agency owner clients.

A few of the new members are in the middle of creating their delegation system for client fulfillment so that they can take on new clients and not increase their hours

One of the tasks to start is to make their processes visible

One of the members tried using Chat GPT and another tried to find someone on Fiverr to make the processes for them

Which led towards an uncovering of the topic on simply doing the assignment (getting it done) or having the visible processes mean something

To do the task

Or to focus on who you become when you trust the process and go all in

Becoming someone different

This is ultimately a challenge that many agency owners face at the 6-figure level that keeps them from achieving the growth that they want

They are focused on doing a lot of things and expecting a result

Instead of simply trusting the process and focusing on becoming

The question I ask myself every day these days is

“Who would I need to become in order to ______”

When we got into the discussion, I educated them on that the processes in Leverage for Growth are not meant to simply do them and be done

But rather it is meant to liberate them through crafting a life and business by design

When you can create the processes that create your delegation system and they are crafted by you and your team based on lessons learned, best practices, and are iterated through continuous improvement

It is not simply something that you do

It is how you operate

It becomes ingrained in your culture

The processes within Leverage for Growth allow you a path to becoming the leader in your agency with a vision and a purpose

There are no shortcuts to long-term success

When you accept this and focus on becoming, anything is possible

During the morning stack today, I realized that I wrote 43k words in the Leverage for Growth book last week to complete the first draft

Now I have the process of editing it

Instead of simply editing it in a vacuum, I am deciding to share the rough draft during some live streams leading up to the release of the Leverage for Growth book

Are they going to be perfect?

Is it about simply editing the book?

It is about who I am becoming when I put myself out there, imperfections and all, while taking a stand for what I am creating

By the time you are listening to this podcast episode, I will have already started this live stream process

I made Leverage for Growth to liberate myself and in the process of sharing what I have learned, I know that I will become more of the person that I aspire to be

Leading by example with the shift from doing to becoming

Why is this important?

Many times as entrepreneurs, we are so focused on doing things right and thinking that that is enough

When in actuality, we must focus on the transformation that is occurring inside of us

Knowing that doing a bunch of things is not going to save us

We must save ourselves by becoming

Changing and updating our own operating system

To focus on what we truly want and becoming that person

Not a year from now

In this moment

Now it is time for the daily leverage.

Where in your world whether in your life or business, have you been focusing on doing what you are told and expecting results without truly changing how you think, act, and believe?

Is it in your life with your health or body?

Is it in your life with your spirituality or self-direction?

Is it in your relationships with your spouse, partner or kids?

Is it in your business or finances or team?

Once you have located where you have been doing lots of things but not changing how you operate in your actions, thoughts and beliefs. And you know what needs to change

What are you willing and able to do about it today?

That is the end of our daily leverage. This is Jesse P. Gilmore and you have been listening to the Leverage for Growth podcast.
