You are now listening to Leverage for Growth. Hey everybody this is Jesse P. Gilmore founder of Niche in Control and creator of the Leverage for Growth, welcome to the daily leverage edition.

Today’s topic is this “Be True to Yourself”. Sit back, relax and welcome to today’s daily leverage.

So this morning, I was doing my morning routine of stacking and reflecting on a theme that my wife and I had since the beginning of our relationship which is to be true to yourself.

If you have been following me for a while, you may remember that when my wife and I first reconnected, I had created my first copywrited document called How to Become the Person I Aspire To Be.

Through a series of questions, it helped us define who we wanted to be and what we had to get rid of in order to achieve our higher self.

In the leverage for growth book that I am writing right now, I would refer to this as my Future Self.

During the beginning of dating each other, we started to remind ourselves to be true to ourselves.

This helped remind us of who we are becoming and who we want to be. This allowed us to stay in truth.

This transitioned into transparency as we got married and continues to deepen as we co-create lift by design together.

Through the addiction burial ceremony that I did for myself in 2018, which I talk about in the book, our understanding and acceptance of radical truth has become part of who we are, not just what we do.

On my journey towards radical transparency and truth, as a man, I have seen how it can be very difficult for us to be completely true to ourselves.

There are two influential books on this topic for men that are listening to this episode.

  1. No more mr nice guy
  2. Warrior book by Garrett j white

One of the things that I had to overcome on my journey as a man and embracing masculinity is through being okay being me fully

Not trying to make moves in my life based on how it would be perceived by others

Not trying to withhold information from people and lie through omission with the thought that by holding onto that information and keeping it away from them, I would be loved and cared for

No More Mr. Nice Guy talks about how we, as men, were brought up to be polite, and taught that our masculinity is something that is wrong or should be hidden

Similar topics to what Garrett says in Warrior Book and how we, as men, have been conditioned over more than a century to be separated from our fathers and not know what it is to truly be a man

The first step towards beating the Nice Guy and the cycle of generational lies is by deciding to stop lying

Not just blatant lies

But including lies of omission

When someone asks you how you are doing and you say “I’m great” when really you are having a hard time, that is a small example of putting on a face

We live in a society that is filtered constantly

From the social media that we look at, the production of TV, the scripts from politicians, and even from each other

If we all just simply decided to be true to ourselves and stop lying, we would start to feel free to be us

Regardless of how others might view us

This is a major reason that I decided to do this podcast

To share with you my true authentic self

These are real lessons that I am learning and relearning as I continue to lean into who I am and who I am becoming

I invite you to do the same

Be true to yourself

And

Stop lying to yourself and others

Both blatant lies and lies of omission

On the other side of the lies is freedom

Freedom that can be felt

Why is this important?

Many times as entrepreneurs, we avoid the facts of where we are today

We find ourselves hiding our true self from others

Thinking that if they only knew the struggles that we are facing

Or what we were really thinking about

Or what we are really going through

That somehow we would be seen as weak, incapable or lesser than

When in actuality, we would gain the thing that we need the most

Which is to be heard and understood

To be in integrity with ourselves

That we would be free from the circumstances and not allow them to define us

For we create a new definition

We create the life and business by design

Not be default

By being true to ourselves

We give the gift of honesty and integrity to others

Which is a rarity these days

Humanity becomes restored

Now it is time for the daily leverage.

Where in your world whether in your life or business, have you been lying to yourself and others about where you are in your life and business? And you have found that either lies of omission or blatant lies are holding you back from being true to yourself?

Is it in your life with your health or body?

Is it in your life with your spirituality or self-direction?

Is it in your relationships with your spouse, partner or kids?

Is it in your business or finances or team?

Once you have located where you have been lying to yourself and others and are ready to take a step forward towards freeing yourself  Ask yourself this

What are you willing and able to do about it today?

That is the end of our daily leverage. This is Jesse P. Gilmore and you have been listening to the Leverage for Growth podcast.
