You are now listening to Leverage for Growth. Hey everybody this is Jesse P. Gilmore founder of Niche in Control and creator of the Leverage for Growth, welcome to the daily leverage edition.

Today’s topic is this “Execution Adaptability”. Sit back, relax and welcome to today’s daily leverage.

So this morning, I was doing my weekly review and with my team.

We brought on a few new team members to help us with consistency of our marketing efforts and we challenged one of them last week with a task that has taken us months to figure out.

We wanted to see how far they would be able to get with the assignment with our documentation and tutorial videos on the process.

Turns out that the assignment was a bit more tricky and difficult than we had anticipated handing off and it will take more than one time to get it right, even with the documentation.

Going back to the leverage for growth training models that we teach our clients, we needed to get back to the scaffolding model of oversight.

More job shadowing, more hand holding, more training on each step is needed before we are able to let them loose on the assignment.

We had a hypothesis that it was not going to work out fully but it is more about our process and documentation than ability.

When training someone, it is important to focus on the process improvement and training resources first before assuming that the person is to blame.

During our weekly review, we did a quick audit of the work and there was more to do to make it right with the automation.

My team and I were able to adapt to the situation and move priorities around to tackle the most important tasks and most importantly

The sequence by which they get done.

People need to know the

What

Why

When

With clarity

With the right team, you enable them to figure out the how

You can set up the systems needed to reduce variability in the work output

But ultimately that is why you hire the right people

To give them autonomy while giving guidance.

Execution of a plan requires adaptability on each persons part

The key when you are training someone new in is to start them early and on basic tasks first before advanced ones.

A lesson I am relearning myself

Why is this important?

Many times as entrepreneurs, we rush to having a plan and a clear vision

Sometimes we get so embedded into our own plans and “how” something gets done that we forget one key piece of having a team

Autonomy and adaptability

When we build systems, they are not to make our team members become like robots

But rather to give them the tools and resources and knowledge they need to be successful in their role.

Now it is time for the daily leverage.

Where in your world whether in your life or business, have you been lacking adaptability in your plans of execution?

Is it in your life with your health or body?

Is it in your life with your spirituality or self-direction?

Is it in your relationships with your spouse, partner or kids?

Is it in your business or finances or team?

Once you have located where you have been needing to be more adaptable in order to get what you want.

What are you willing and able to do about it today?

That is the end of our daily leverage. This is Jesse P. Gilmore and you have been listening to the Leverage for Growth podcast.
