You are now listening to Leverage for Growth. Hey everybody this is Jesse P. Gilmore founder of Niche in Control and creator of the Leverage for Growth, welcome to the daily leverage edition.

Today’s topic is this “3 Feet from gold ”. Sit back, relax and welcome to today’s daily leverage.

So this morning, I was doing my morning routine of stacking and reflecting on our family time last night.

My wife and I played a board game of Sorry with our 5 year old son and almost 3 year old daughter.

We were helping our daughter make some of the moves so that the strategy was taken care of.

She was starting to get her pieces to the goal and she was getting close to winning.

Then out of the blue, we says that she is done and decides to quit.

Probably because we were playing the game really close to her bedtime but she was done.

So we held her while we continued to play the game for her and she ends up winning the game.

At the time that she gave up, she was 3 feet away from gold.

This happened with my son a couple weeks back as well.

I am teaching my son how to play chess and there is a beginner version of chess called No Stress Chess which you pull cards that tell you which piece needs to move.

There still is a strategy but the piece that moves is chosen for you.

Which means there are sometimes that I help my son win the game

Even though, without the cards, I would be at a massive advantage

During our daddy son date a couple weeks ago, he was super close to winning against me but decided to be done

We had a long talk about not giving up when you are so close to winning

This is something that we help our agency clients with as well in their business

To not give up on a strategy or tactic or strategic initiative when they are 3 feet from gold

Why is this important?

Many times as entrepreneurs, When something is difficult we tend to limit the amount of effort or time or energy that we will put into it

We are thinking of ways of taking a shortcut or not giving it our all

We find ways to give up or back out without fully committing

This limits our ability to produce and creates a cycle of not seeing things through to the end

Whether it is a board game or a business or marketing strategy

We must commit to doing the work required for as long as required to get the result

In doing so, we persevere when others give up and we stick with it until we have the gold that we have been after

Now it is time for daily leverage.

Where in your world whether in your life or business, have you been giving up when you are 3 feet from winning?

Is it in your life with your health or body?

Is it in your life with your spirituality or self-direction?

Is it in your relationships with your spouse, partner or kids?

Is it in your business or finances or team?

Once you have located where you have been giving up when you are so close to winning  and you know what you need to change.

My question to you is this…

What are you willing and able to do about it today?

That is the end of our daily leverage. This is Jesse P. Gilmore and you have been listening to the Leverage for Growth podcast.
