You are now listening to Leverage for Growth. Hey everybody this is Jesse P. Gilmore founder of Niche in Control and creator of the Leverage for Growth, welcome to the daily leverage edition.

Today’s topic is this “Are you trying to win or playing to win?”. Sit back, relax and welcome to today’s daily leverage.

So this morning, I was doing my morning routine of stacking and reflecting on The topic of trying to win versus playing to win. In my experience working with business owners over the last 15 years, I have realized that there is a very big distinction between those that are trying to do some thing and those who are actually doing it.

Many times it comes down to a mindset shift, that a person deserves success.

That they are committed to it.

That they have not put self-limiting beliefs routines and habits into place that would hold them back from actually getting what they desire.

There are many people that say that they want to succeed in life and business yet they remain doing the same things that they’ve always done and expecting different results.

One of the greatest gifts that has happened with me over the last year and a half has been this decision to play to win. As aN executive coach in the beginning of niche in control, there was only so many people that I could serve.

I began to limit my ability to serve people in powerful ways and in large quantities based around the business model that I had at that time.

One of the first times within Niche and Control that I decided to play to win was when I began to feel the calling to serve thousands.

This very simple desire of serving thousands made me look at my business from a different lens.

I had to look at my business from a different lens because One on one coaching cannot serve thousands without a business model switch.

If anybody has tried to switch their business model before going from done for you to done with you, or 1 to 1 versus group, or completely changing different industries or niches, you would know how difficult this change can be.

When you change a business model, everything changes.

Client for filament changes.

Client attraction changes.

Client acquisition and conversion changes. People and roles responsible change as well. There is an evolution that has to happen inside of the founder to switch from just trying to win or trying to succeed and actually achieving what they say they desire.

The in between stage of making the decision to try to win versus playing to win is a daily decision that you must make if you are going to make an impact on the world, your family, your employees, your clients. There is a sense of certainty that comes from someone who is playing to win. That certainty is contagious. That certainty is what develops you as a leader. That just to grow the company, but make an impact..

Why is this important?

Many times as entrepreneurs, we see many types of people come into our world saying that they want a certain thing. We may even desire that same thing. And then we see other people that are achieving the desire that we say we are after.

We only see a fraction of what it took for them to succeed. At the core of their success came the decision to not just try to succeed but rather to play to win. It is up to us to make this daily decision to play to win.

There is no try. When you do this daily decision and play to win every day, you were already winning. And once you have the momentum coming from this decision, just remember it only takes one decision to try to win to bring you back to where you were before. Stay committed to yourself and those around you, find accountability, find resources in support groups, find the subject knowledge that you need in order for you to continually rise daily.
