Jesse P. Gilmore makes a big life decision: Am I going to contribute to the world or am I going to consume it?

Jesse P. Gilmore
You are now listening to Leverage for Growth. Everybody, this is Jesse Gilmore, founder of Niche in Control and creator of Leverage for Growth. Welcome to the Daily Leverage Edition. Today’s topic is this: Be a producer, not a consumer. Sit back, relax, and welcome to the Daily leverage. So this morning I was doing my morning routine of stacking and reflecting on this topic of being a producer, not a consumer.
00;00;28;16 – 00;00;48;18
Jesse P. Gilmore
This has come up for me a number of times before launching Niche and Control and has definitely become more of a theme in my life as a dive deeper into spreading Leverage for Growth to others. And one of the most memorable times was when an earlier mentor of mine stated that you really just have a power of choice. You’re either going to produce or you’re going to consume.
00;00;49;09 – 00;01;10;21
Jesse P. Gilmore
Now, there is more information out there in the world than ever before. Before Leverage for Growth was really defined or, you know, brought into a method. I realized that in order for me to achieve what I wanted to achieve, I would have to focus. Focus would allow me to cut out distractions from me achieving what I wanted to achieve.
00;01;11;12 – 00;01;29;13
Jesse P. Gilmore
Focus would be my way to not repeat the cycles in my life that held me back from my purpose in my previous businesses. Now, during the length of all three of my first businesses, I was an alcoholic. I drank pretty much every day, or at least the majority of the days of the week since I was about 16 or 17 years old.
00;01;30;11 – 00;01;49;26
Jesse P. Gilmore
Talk about a distraction. During that time, I was inconsistent, easily distracted. Fell in love with my idea and lived in this fantasy world that made it look amazing on the outside. But I was just dying on the inside. This is like this trap that I find many business owners stuck in. You know, not necessarily, maybe the alcohol, maybe or not.
00;01;50;15 – 00;02;17;28
Jesse P. Gilmore
But really, it’s where they’re doing this work to make it look like they’re doing really well. And in actuality, it’s not true. And during that time, I was a consumer. As a business owner, I consumed so much information, but I didn’t produce any myself. There was no contribution to the world in that way. And the result was that I had no clear plan of where I was going to go or where I wanted to go, or I didn’t have any tribe or accountability.
00;02;17;28 – 00;02;36;10
Jesse P. Gilmore
And I was just flying by the seat of my pants on a hope-ium strategy, which is really no strategy at all. And so when I started Niche in Control, I wanted to be different. I wanted to make an impact. I wanted to, you know, make a difference in the world. And I wanted to create something original and be known for it.
00;02;37;07 – 00;02;58;01
Jesse P. Gilmore
But it wasn’t just about me. It was this decision that I had that it to really just not be distracted and just go all in on me. And this is a decision that every entrepreneur has to make at one point in their lives. Are you going to be a consumer or you’re going to produce, to contribute, to share your voice with the world?
00;02;59;02 – 00;03;20;06
Jesse P. Gilmore
So why is this important? Truth is, if you want to grow your business and you want to make an impact. You need to focus on producing rather than consuming. Now it is time for daily leverage. So where in your world, in across your life, in business, have you been stuck being a consumer rather than a producer? Is it in your life with your health and body?
00;03;20;09 – 00;03;42;19
Jesse P. Gilmore
Getting more information but not doing anything about it? Or is it in your life with your spirituality and self-direction? Is it with your relationships with your spouse, partner or kids? Is it with your business, finances and team? And once you’ve located where you’ve been stalling, the action required to move your life and business forward. Ask yourself this: What am I willing and able to do about it today?
00;03;44;06 – 00;03;50;24
Jesse P. Gilmore
So that was the end of Daily Leverage. This is Jesse P. Gilmore and you’ve been listening to Leverage for Growth podcast. See you in the next episode.
