You are now listening to Leverage for Growth. Hey, everybody, This is Jesse Gilmore, founder of Niche and Control and creator of Leverage for Growth. Welcome to the Daily Leverage edition. Today’s topic is this the world’s greatest lie? Sit back, relax, and welcome today’s Daily Leverage. So this morning I was doing my morning routine of snacking and going through a Discover stack, which is ultimately based around having an aha moment when you’re reading, stopping and going into a what why lesson apply.

And the Aha moment actually came from a book called The Alchemist. If you guys have read this before and it’s by Paulo Coelho and The Alchemist is a really, really good story about a boy that is a shepherd and he’s basically he has a couple of different dreams that lead him towards an adventure and a journey to go towards the Egyptian pyramids.

And in a way, beginning of the story, you learn that he is visiting town after town and treating his sheep’s wool and for goods. And he gets to a point where he’s reading this book and he trades in one book for a bigger books. That way he can lay on it. He’s using it as a pillow, and he runs into this old man and the old man looks at the book and looks at all over and he goes, Hmm.

This is an interesting one, but it actually tells the world’s greatest lie. And the boy looks at him and he’s like, What do you mean? And he goes, Well, the world’s greatest lie is when some time in our life we believe that when we get to a certain point that we lose control of what is happening to us and we become controlled by fate.

And this world’s greatest lie, he explains, is pretty much everywhere. And what it does is it takes away people’s personal destiny and personal kind of journey towards becoming themselves. And in this Discover, I’ve read this book probably about ten or 12 times, and every single time I get something out of it, depending on where I am in my own personal journey.

And he talks about a personal legend, which is ultimately kind of your version, your story that’s kind of unfolding. And one of the things that really stood out to me was this idea of the world’s greatest lie. And if we look at different parts of our being and our connection with and the world, we start to realize that pretty much everything in the world is distracting us from, you know, who we’re meant to be or our purpose or our meaning in life.

And a lot of times it’s based on shiny objects or, you know, people’s opinions on things or anything like them. And when we come to realize that and there is not going to be something external from us that kind of guides our behavior and that everything actually comes from the internal, then we’re able to guide our life based around an understanding of certainty that is unchanged based around environment.

And this is ultimately what we are called as entrepreneurs to tap into this understanding that our purpose, our meaning is based around a connection between both a kind of our life’s purpose, but then also who are called to serve. It’s a lot different for people that are employees or, you know, not business owners only just because it’s a different system and different kind of roles or rules governing kind of the W-2 version.

But when you’re an entrepreneur, you ultimately create your own rules and create your own reality. And this is ultimately where the life and business by design kind of comes in. And the things that hold entrepreneurs back is ultimately based around their own belief systems and their own understanding that you ultimately need to live a life of expansion and growth.

And this is actually how we make the biggest impact. And so when we believe the world’s greatest lie, that we are not in control of our life and that, you know, fate is ultimately coming into play, and then we’re giving up our personal power, which is ultimately going to hold us back from achieving our true potential regardless of what that monetary amount is.

It’s ultimately the calling to serve more people. And we serve people in a lot of different ways as entrepreneurs, and we serve people such as our clients. We serve people such as our employees, but ultimately we also serve families and, you know, as we employ more people, as we grow, we’re actually making a really big impact on society.

And so ultimately, tapping into the understanding that what is going on in your world is up to you and you’re fully responsible or accountable. You’re able to start to understand that your personal legend is calling you. So why is this important? Ultimately, we need to tap into our understanding that we’re on our own journey. Aside from everything else that’s going on in the world, all the different types of distractions that are happening and ultimately just tapping into who you are at the core, because ultimately we are not other people.

We’re not living life for somebody else and we’re living life for us. And when we understand who we are at such a deep level that we’re able to understand that we have inner certainty regardless of the scenarios, regardless of disruption, regardless of other people’s opinions, then we’re starting to understand how we lead people, how we lead companies, how we lead others to believe in our vision.

And in doing so, we tap into the achievement of a personal legend. So now it is time for the daily leverage. So where in your world, whether in your life or business, have you ultimately just been giving up control and relying on either fate is in your life with your health or body is in your life with your spirituality or self-direction, as in your relationships with your spouse, partner or kids?

Is your business, finances or team. And once you’ve located where you’ve been kind of giving up control and you know what you need to change. My question to you is this What are you willing and able to do about it today as the end of the day? Leverage. This is Jesse bigger, more human listening to Leverage for Growth podcast.
