Today’s topic is this Making Progress Visible. Sit back, relax and welcome to today’s daily leverage.

So this morning, I was doing my morning routine and reflecting on the power that comes from making progress visible.

Let me tell you a story. My son recently decided he wants to earn some stars for martial arts. The condition? He needs to perform ten good deeds. We started tracking these on a piece of paper, which we proudly display on our fridge. And guess what happened? My little guy immediately sprang into action, fully motivated to hit his goal.

Now, this got me thinking. If such a simple act can motivate a child to reach his goal, how can we apply the same principle in our everyday lives and our businesses? Today, we’re diving into the power of making progress visible and how it can be a powerful motivator. Let’s explore this in terms of body, being, balance, and business.

Section 1: Body

When it comes to our physical health, setting clear, visible goals can be a game-changer. Let’s say you’re aiming to run a marathon. By tracking your training progress visibly, such as marking off each completed run on a calendar, you’ll be motivated to keep going. It’s like the good deeds on my son’s chart; every checkmark or crossed-out date serves as a reminder of your progress, pushing you further.

Section 2: Being

When it comes to personal growth, the power of visible progress can be just as impactful. Perhaps you’re learning a new skill or language. By marking each completed lesson or achieved milestone, you keep the motivation alive. It’s like a book – every chapter you finish is a visible marker of your progress, propelling you to move onto the next.

Section 3: Balance

In maintaining balance in our lives, visual reminders of our progress can also be beneficial. Suppose you’re trying to improve your work-life balance. Keep a record of the hours you spend on work and personal time each day. Seeing the disparity can motivate you to make necessary adjustments. Think of it as a balance scale; by keeping track and adjusting, you strive for that perfect equilibrium.

Section 4: Business

Finally, in business, we’ve seen time and again how making progress visible can be a fantastic motivator. This is particularly useful in project management, where tracking milestones and seeing each task’s completion can keep the team motivated. It’s like building a house, brick by brick. Each completed stage of the project is a brick in your structure, bringing you closer to your finished building.

Conclusion:

So, what can we learn from my son and his quest for martial arts stars? It’s simple. Making progress visible, whether it’s for our physical health, personal growth, life balance, or business projects, can be an incredibly powerful motivator. Remember, every star on the fridge, every tick on the calendar, every chapter of a book, and every brick in a building represents progress. Keep it visible, keep it clear, and let’s keep reaching for those stars.
