Jesse:
You are now listening to Leverage for Growth. Hey everybody, this is Jesse P. Gilmore, founder of Niche in Control and creator of Leverage for Growth. Welcome to the Daily Leverage Edition. Today’s topic is this, who, not how, the secret to scaling your agency. Sit back, relax, and welcome to today’s Daily Leverage. Ever heard the saying, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts? Today, we’re diving deep into this concept. We’re going to discuss how true visionary entrepreneurs focus not on how to achieve their big dreams, but on who can help them get there. We’re going to dive into the power of collaboration and the idea that our visions must be bigger than ourselves to experience exponential growth. So vision is a crucial element for any successful entrepreneur. And research from the University of Virginia and the University of Oregon found that entrepreneurs who set vivid, measurable, challenging goals are more likely to succeed. But having a vision alone is not enough. It must be bigger than ourselves and feel almost impossible, like climbing Mount Everest without training. This challenges us, stretches us, and ultimately helps us grow. So let’s talk about psychology. psychologists coined the term fixed mindset and growth mindset. In previous episodes, I’ve talked about this a bit, but a fixed mindset assumes that our abilities are static, while a growth mindset sees abilities as malleable, or adaptable, or changeable through effort and perseverance. A study in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology showed that people with a growth mindset were more likely to reach their goals. As entrepreneurs, Adapting a growth mindset helps us see our impossible vision as a challenge to overcome. So what about wealth creation? Studies have shown that the wealthiest individuals often have something in common—a big, hairy, audacious goal and a team that helps them achieve it. Consider Elon Musk and SpaceX. Their goal to colonize Mars seems impossible. But with a dedicated team, they’re making strides. Moreover, in his book, High Performance Habits, Brennan Bruchard highlights that high performers are not isolated individuals, but are deeply connected to a team and a network that enables their performance. Freedom in life often comes from creating systems in our business. Michael Gerber, in his book, The E-Myth Revisited, emphasizes the importance of working on the business rather than in it. Building a team and creating systems allows us not only to scale our business, but also to free up our time, leading to more freedom in life. So what does this all mean for us? For our personal growth or being, we should aim to adopt a growth mindset, challenging ourselves with big visions. In maintaining balance in our lives, consider who can support us, be it family, friends, or a professional network. When it comes to our physical health or a body, we can apply the same principles. Whether it’s hiring a personal trainer or seeking support from loved ones who can help us is often the answer to reaching our health goals. And lastly in business, it’s about building a team that supports your vision, creating systems that allow the business to operate without your constant involvement, and focusing on the bigger picture. In conclusion, visionary entrepreneurs are those who focus on their big vision and surround themselves with the right people to achieve it. Remember, focus not on how to reach your goal, but who can help you get there. Your vision is the destination. Your team is the vehicle. And you, dear listeners, are the visionary drivers. Where in your world, whether in your life or business, have you been so focused on the how that it’s been holding you back from achieving what you want? Is it in your life with your health and body? Is it in your life with your spirituality or self-direction? Is it in your relationships with your spouse, partner, or kids? Is it in your business, finances, or team? And once you’ve located where you’ve been focused on the how, but you need to switch to the who, my question to you is this. What are you willing and able to do about it today?
