You are now listening to Leverage for Growth. Hey everybody, this is Jesse P. Gilmore, founder of Niche in Control and creator of Leverage for Growth. Welcome to Daily Leverage Edition. Today’s topic is this, celebrating milestones. Sit back, relax, and welcome to today’s Daily Leverage. So celebrating milestones is really just an overall topic based around maintaining motivation and inspiration while you are pursuing a long-term growth and success within your agency and life. And ultimately, this comes from two different things, motivation and inspiration. Motivation is based around being motivated by something external of you, extrinsic motivation, something that is a feeling in the moment, and being able to focus on achieving long-term goals means that you have to give yourself momentum and milestones along the way that you can celebrate. And inspiration is something that actually pulls you. So instead of motivation, which is kind of like a push, which is what we’re going to focus on today, there also needs to be something that is pulling you towards success, something that is much bigger than yourself. Maybe that is financial freedom or a legacy or being able to sell your agency, something that is actually pulling you forward. And in order for you to have motivation and really be able to get pulled towards what you want. you have to have a really clear vision and purpose. Understanding how to stay motivated and maintaining your drive towards success. I always talk about with my agency clients, how to look at entrepreneurship from a lens of like a marathon. And it’s not as though you are constantly sprinting and constantly going back and forth to the 60, 80 hour weeks, which ultimately pretty much everybody else is talking about with this hustle culture What that does, it makes it so you’re not consistent. But being able to understand where you’re going, so your vision and purpose, and being able to celebrate milestones along the way is ultimately how you succeed in the long term. And you can do this by setting up SMART goals. So goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. These are all different ways of creating that milestone that you’re going towards. and being able to break something that seems impossible down into manageable components that you’re working towards. And by doing so, you start to find inspiration. And here are a couple different suggestions on finding inspiration. One of them is based around learning from other successful agency owners or entrepreneurs. What worked for them? How can you incorporate some of those things into your world? Being able to listen to motivational podcasts like this one or reading inspirational books. And ultimately, surrounding yourself with a supportive and ambitious community is a couple different ways of finding inspiration. And as you’re on this journey towards achieving milestones on your way towards your bigger vision, you’re going to experience challenges and failures. But it’s only really a failure if you quit. And so I was always told by one of my mentors that either you’re succeeding or you’re learning, and failure is only based around when you quit. And so it’s important to use these challenges, these setbacks, as opportunities for growth and learning and motivation. And by doing so, you’re able to start to understand that when you’re on this marathon of entrepreneurship as an agency owner, you need to maintain a work-life balance, basically being in it for the long term. And so a couple different ways of being able to do that is to shut off your phone, not check emails right when you wake up. and making it to where you have time for your investment into the number one asset that you have, which is yourself. And being able to understand that in order for you to succeed, you need to prevent burnout and keep motivated on your journey towards long-term success. So I encourage you to stay focused on your long-term goals and really just be motivated by these milestones along the way so you know that you’re always progressing. on your journey towards whatever your calling is. So why is this important? Many times as entrepreneurs, we are so focused on the end goal, our end goal of building a business that can sustain and grow without them, or building a business so you can eventually sell it, and getting to the point where you’re so focused on long-term that there’s this huge gap between where you are and where you wanna go. And the way to stay motivated and inspired, on your journey is by celebrating milestones along the way. So you can attract your achievements as you are on a journey. And because ultimately it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey itself. Now it’s time for the daily leverage. So where in your world, whether in your life or business, have you been sacrificing long-term goals based around a demotivation that you have because you haven’t celebrated milestones? Is it in your life with your health and body? Is it in your life with your spirituality or self-direction? Is it in your relationships with your spouse, partner, or kids? Is it in your business, finances, or team? And once you’ve located where you have been lacking celebration of those milestones on your way towards your long-term goal and you know what you need to change, my question to you is this. What are you willing and able to do about it today? That is the end of the Daily Leverage. This is Jesse P. Gilmore. You’ve been listening to Leverage for Growth podcast.
