You are now listening to Leverage for Growth. Hey, everybody, This is Jesse Gilmore, founder of Niche In Control and creator of Leverage for Growth. Welcome to the Daily Leverage edition. Today’s topic is this beating imposter syndrome. Sit back, relax, and welcome to today’s Daily Leverage. So this morning I was doing my morning routine of stacking and working out.

00;00;53;18 – 00;01;16;10
Jesse P. Gilmore
And today I did something different. There are different stacks or different scenarios. And today I did what’s called a mega stack or a rage stack. In order for me to explain what I did this morning and how it is focused on beating imposter syndrome I must first get you to understand what imposter syndrome actually is and why it’s in all of us, especially entrepreneurs, inside of all of us.

00;01;16;11 – 00;01;33;08
Jesse P. Gilmore
We have thoughts, stories, and feelings about our life that make up who we are and how we show up in the world. These thoughts, stories and beliefs are made up of various experiences in our lives that have condition us to act a certain way. Some of these stories and beliefs are what we’ve been taught, trained and educated to believe is true.

00;01;33;22 – 00;01;58;21
Jesse P. Gilmore
Influences such as school, news, culture, society and some of these stories and beliefs are from your social circle your friends, family, relationships, parents. And some of these stories and beliefs come from past experiences. Childhood trauma sort of made you avoid certain experiences from happening again without any awareness or conscious. But these stories become beliefs and they create life by default.

00;01;58;21 – 00;02;29;27
Jesse P. Gilmore
Life by default is simply an acceptance of the stories and circumstances of your life. And then you are a product of your experience with no real control over your life direction. A journey that I believe that you’re on, especially if you’re an entrepreneur. Listening to this podcast is to create life by design. Life by design is when you realize that you can influence the direction of your life by focusing on the things that you can control and shifting your stories, beliefs, and thoughts through conscious attention and intention.

00;02;30;25 – 00;02;45;10
Jesse P. Gilmore
When you take on the challenge of life by design, there is a part of you that wants to hold on to the things of the past. There is a part of you that shows up and wants to play small, so you go back to the way that things were before that wants you to be less than your full potential.

00;02;46;05 – 00;03;06;20
Jesse P. Gilmore
In psychology, this is called imposter syndrome. So why am I talking to you about imposter syndrome? In the Mastermind workshop I was a part of two weeks ago. We have identified and labeled our imposter so that we could become aware of when this imposter version of ourselves comes up. And so that we can avoid letting them take control.

00;03;07;12 – 00;03;30;13
Jesse P. Gilmore
It might sound like Inception or something, but it’s actually a very real thing. Actually, one of our most popular YouTube videos goes into this topic and how to beat the hell out of imposter syndrome. If this video, you know, this video resonate with a lot of entrepreneurs, and if this episode resonates with you. Find me on YouTube at Jesse P Gilmore.

00;03;30;22 – 00;03;56;27

And the episode or the video that you’re looking for is how to Beat Imposter syndrome. Anyway, back to my story. So in this mastermind, we identified our impostors and labeled them. So I found my imposter and labeled him Struggling Jesse. The stories and beliefs of struggling Jesse are made up of these past childhood experiences that of lack scarcity, struggle, trauma and avoiding risk.

00;03;58;19 – 00;04;21;17
Jesse P. Gilmore
The imposter, Struggling Jesse, shows up in my body with the stories of my back pain, and that back pain will be something that I deal with for the rest of my life, which is not true. The imposter, Struggling Jesse, shows up in my being with the stories of my experiences in the church that made me not want to use the word God with others and cause me to overthink or not to act on my purpose in life.

00;04;22;16 – 00;04;49;29
Jesse P. Gilmore
Not anymore. The imposter, Struggling Jesse, shows up in my balance with the stories of not having a strong father figure during my childhood and knowing how to be a good father or lead a family. Which is not true. I am becoming my own example and the imposter, struggling Jesse, shows up in my business with the stories that I must struggle in order to survive, and that this causes these build and burn patterns.

00;04;50;23 – 00;05;13;17
Jesse P. Gilmore
Not anymore. One of the things that I am committed to doing is leading by example. I share this with you because I want you to know that I am disassociating with this imposter and consciously choosing to lean into a life by design. I am committed to leading by example and providing you with the rawness and realness of my own experiences.

00;05;13;17 – 00;05;39;01
Jesse P. Gilmore
Crafting a life by design, being free to be me fully. The fact today was focusing on shifting my story, shifting the story to being one of growth and labeling the imposter so that I can proactively beat it. Then to separate those feelings from facts and realize that I’ve been beating the imposter all along. Even creating this episode is an example of beating the imposter syndrome.

00;05;40;02 – 00;06;01;09
Jesse P. Gilmore
So why is this important? Many times as entrepreneurs, we have a part of us that continues to want to play small. We may be unconscious of it, but is there whether you are just starting off or you’re already bringing in millions of for your company. There is an imposter, and through awareness and intention, we can beat this imposter and live life by design rather than default.

00;06;02;12 – 00;06;20;23
Jesse P. Gilmore
So now it is time for the daily leverage. So where in your world, whether in your life or business, have you been allowing the imposter to keep you playing small, whether through the stories or beliefs that you’ve been telling yourself? Is it in your life with your health and body? Is it in your life with your spirituality or self-direction?

00;06;21;09 – 00;06;41;22
Jesse P. Gilmore
Is it in your relationships with your spouse, partner, or kids? Is it in your business, finances or team? And once you’ve located where you’ve been letting the imposter in. Ask yourself this What am I willing and able to do about it today? That is the end of daily leverage. This is Jesse Gilmore and you’ve been listening to the Leverage for Growth podcast.
