You are now listening to Leverage for Growth. Hey everybody this is Jesse P. Gilmore founder of Niche in Control and creator of the Leverage for Growth, welcome to the daily leverage edition.
Today’s topic is this “Taking a Vacation”. Sit back, relax and welcome to today’s daily leverage.
So this morning, I was doing my morning routine of stacking and reflecting on the family vacation I had last week with my wife and two kids.
It is our last family vacation as a family of four, as our 3rd child comes next month
It was also the first family vacation of the year
A much needed one
We had been in a build stage within the business and life for the last 9 months if not longer
It was time for a break
We had achieved what we set out to achieve and the last few weeks have been challenging to stay on
So we broke the routine
I broke the routine
It was a time for us to simply be
Be present
Be connected
Be focused on us
Be not distracted by the world around us
To sleep late
To do what we felt in the moment
To enjoy life beyond our normal routine
For me, it was rejuvenating to simply let go of everything I had been doing so that I could be present with my family
To celebrate us and how far we have come as individuals and as a family
Now, as I start my new work week, I have a fresh perspective
I have a new routine
I get the chance to look at my life and business from a new lens
In doing so, I breathe life into my present moment
I am more connected
I am more of who I aspire to be
Why is this important?
Many times as entrepreneurs, we get into cycles
Routines
Beliefs
Actions
All that might be helping us get to where we want to go
Or might be holding us back from achieving what we want
Sometimes we are too close to the trees to see the forest
Many times we don’t even know we need a break
Taking a break from the business seems like the world is going to come crashing down
Yet, if we don’t take a break, we will continue to face the same challenges
The same issues that aren’t resolved
The same actions that we think are helping us that are actually harming our ability to rise to the next level of what we are capable of
This is where we must make time to turn off
So that when we turn back on
We can create and design the life and business that works for us to achieve what we want to achieve
This means that we make taking a break, a vacation, a priority
Just as important as that new marketing campaign, new product design, or anything else that you are building
Sometimes you may think that you can’t afford to take a break
My thought is
You can’t afford not to
Now it is time for daily leverage.
Where in your world whether in your life or business, have you been going hard for a long time and it is time to take a much needed break?
Is it in your life with your health or body?
Is it in your life with your spirituality or self-direction?
Is it in your relationships with your spouse, partner or kids?
Is it in your business or finances or team?
Once you have located where you have been going for too long without a break and you know what you need to change.
My question to you is this…
What are you willing and able to do about it today?
That is the end of our daily leverage. This is Jesse P. Gilmore and you have been listening to the Leverage for Growth podcast.
