With technology quickly changing the landscape of business, it is easy to get distracted and chase after then next new shiny object. I recently found this with ChatGPT and had to course-correct myself to focus on what was really important.
Episode 15: Putting First Things First
00:00:11:03 – 00:00:37:15
You are now listening to Leverage for Growth. Hey, everybody, This is Jesse Gilmore, founder of Niche in Control and creator of Leverage for Growth. Welcome to the Daily Leverage Edition. Today’s topic is this: putting first things first. Sit back, relax, and welcome to today’s Daily Leverage. So this morning I was doing my morning routine of stacking and reflected on a conversation that I had last night about chatGPT and the future of marketing and business in general.
00:00:38:08 – 00:01:12:08
It was an interesting conversation that left me wondering and dreaming about the use of chatGPT internally and within the world, whether Google or chatGPT when the AI war or how this shapes jobs in the future. All very exciting ideas and topics of conversation. So this morning I came into the stack with a question about this idea. The guidance I was given was to complete the book first, no need for AI or chatGPT to write the book or to be used before I got what I needed to get done first.
00:01:13:00 – 00:01:32:15
This is a trap that I have fallen before and gotten burned where I’m falling in love with an idea and I go all in with it at the exclusion or neglect of the things that are right in front of me. So I decided to revisit the topic again with plans for addressing and learning more after I got what I have on my plate done now.
00:01:33:04 – 00:01:58:08
Could I cheat and have a chatGPT Write the book for me. I could, but then I would feel no transformation, no change. Internal and really kind of like have an empty feeling. And so this is why I decided to do to focus on the transformation, focus on completing the first draft of the book in the next three days, staying aligned with my goals and what I want to accomplish this year.
00:01:58:19 – 00:02:20:21
Am I open to learning more and starting to practice the learning the programs? Absolutely. But I must put first things first. So today I add content to the structure of my book, which I created the structure yesterday. And so that by the end of today, and maybe even tomorrow, I will know what story’s frameworks and content to use to tell my story.
00:02:21:08 – 00:02:46:15
So I am super excited to share it with you all when it’s ready. and I can wait until next week. So why is this important? Many times as entrepreneurs we hear the hype of new technologies, new disruptions, and we don’t want to be left out. We have a tendency to drop everything that we are working on to join the crowd when in actuality where we end up losing a part of ourselves.
00:02:47:04 – 00:03:13:01
There will always be new technologies and new disruptions and more shiny objects. There is a time and a place for learning and incorporating them into your life and business. Just make sure to do so when you’re making sure that you’re focused on what’s best for you and your business to achieve your goals before letting go of your freedom and commitment to yourself by simply chasing the next shiny object.
00:03:13:06 – 00:03:33:06
Now it is time for the daily leverage. So where in your world, whether in your life or business, have you been chasing shiny objects and putting the next new idea ahead of your goals? Is it in your life with your health and body? Is it in your life with your spirituality or self-direction? Is it in your relationships with your spouse?
00:03:33:06 – 00:03:53:13
Partner? Our kids? Is it in your business or finances or team? And once you’ve located where you’ve been allowing yourself to be distracted and you know what you need to put first, The question is this What are you willing and able to do about it today? That is the end of daily leverage. This is Jesse Gilmore and you’ve been listening to the Leverage for Growth podcast.
